Toshiba will license SST's embedded SuperFlash cores technology to be used in their microcontrollers for consumer electronics and industrial products, said Silicon Storage Technology Monday.

Toshiba initially will license SST's 0.5 micron node NOR flash for embedding in its 8- and 16-bit microcontrollers. Licensing fees and royalties will be paid based on sales of microcontrollers using the SuperFlash technology. Both companies said they will expand their cooperation to cover more advanced generations of NOR flash technology down the line.
