Tektronix has announced a significant repricing of many of its 500MHz to 4GHz oscilloscopes, to reflect its reduced investment spending on R&D in the future, the company said.
"The economy has forced budget constraints on designers to the degree that time-to-market may be sacrificed," said Colin Shepard, VP oscilloscopes at Tektronix.
Tektronix keeps an watchful eye on the lower cost PC-based test systems used by many development engineers. But the company believe that PC-based scopes will not make a significant impact on the benchtop instrument market.
"As suppliers we are continually raising the performance bar, which PC-based systems have problems matching," said Rich McBee, senior VP of sales and marketing at Tektronix.
