Cirrus Logic Inc. and ATI Technologies Inc. announced they have entered into a cross-license agreement and have settled all outstanding litigation between them.
Under the settlement, all outstanding claims and counterclaims in both lawsuits have been dropped. Cirrus Logic will transfer a portion of its patent portfolio as part of its former graphics products group to ATI, and ATI will pay Cirrus $9 million this month.
Trace back to the history, a patent infringement suit by Cirrus Logic has been pending since July 1998. And in May, Cirrus Logic filed another charges against ATI for infringement of a patent relating to graphics processor technology. All these litigations have been dropped as part of the settlement deal.
