Sun Microsystems could face the threat of becoming a take over target if the company didn't stop the bleeding and narrow its product focus, said an analyst.
"Sun is likely to suffer further share and financial losses, become irrelevant to most users, and eventually be acquired for its installed base," the analyst said.
Sun has been hit worse than its rivals in the network computers market during the technology slump. Analyst outlined several areas that the company could address to fix the issues, including cutting more jobs to save cost, spinning off technology such as Java, and hiring a chief operating officer.
