Sharp Corp. has developed TFT liquid crystal displays for mobile devices with improved viewing feature, the company said.
The LCD has various sizes from 1.5-inch diagonal intended for digital still cameras to 6.5-inch diagonal intended for car navigation systems. Samples will be available in December of 2003, with volume production to begin spring 2004, the company said.
The displays offer increased 160 degree viewing angle vertically and horizontally, a contrast ratio of 300:1 and a response time of 25-milliseconds, the company said.
The new displays are produced using Sharp's amorphous silicon manufacturing process and the CG-silicon process CG-Silicon, a next-generation technology developed jointly by Sharp and Semiconductor Energy Laboratory Co. Ltd.
