Micron Technology Inc. has shipped what it claims is the industry's first 1Gbit DDR2 SDRAM components.
Using the standard FBGA packaging, the 1.8 volt 1Gbit DDR2-400 and DDR2-533 SDRAM components are manufactured on Micron's 0.11-micron process technology.
"Micron is the only memory supplier to have shipped samples of 256Mb, 512Mb, and 1Gb DDR2 components to major customers," said Terry Lee, an executive director in Micron's computing and consumer group, in a statement.
"We continue to increase our leadership by delivering new technology in advance of our competition, and by providing a broad portfolio of the most advanced products to our customers. With all three generations of DDR2 we are able to provide module densities ranging from 128MB to 4GB, meeting the needs of desktop, portable, and server applications," Lee said.
