Elpida Memory Inc. said Tuesday (Nov. 4) it is sampling 2-Gbyte DDR2 registered DIMM modules for high-end servers.
The modules consist of 36 512-Mbit DDR2 chips that operate at 533Mbits/s. The DDR2 components are produced on Elpida's 0.11-micron process.
The Japanese company said mass production of the 2-Gbyte modules is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2004.
Elpida's registered DIMM family also includes 512-Mbyte and 1-Gbyte densities.
