Foundries's business up in October

Monday, November 10, 2003

The world two largest contract chip manufacturers, TSMC and UMC, reported a 25 percent and a 21 percent rise in business respectively in October, according to recent company statements.

TSMC's October sales totaled about $600 million, an increase of nearly 25 percent from October 2002. Meanwhile, UMC's October sales totaled about $226 million, up about 21 percent from October 2002.

The October revenue increases signify a better overall market condition down the line.
