Elpida's first product release under its Digital Consumer Division is a 128Mb SDRAM device newly re-designed for consumer products such as DVD players/recorders, video servers and printers. The new devices (part numbers: EDS1216AAxx, EDS1216CAxx) are organized as 8M words x 16-bits, and they offer either 3.3V or 2.5V operation, thus reducing power consumption up to 40%. The devices utilize Elpida's 0.11-micron processing, and they operate at 133MHz (PC133).
Elpida's devices are available as a "bare die" solution suitable for use in the customer's own system-in-package (SiP) and/or multi-chip package (MCP) design implementations. The devices also support two packaging options, a 54-ball FBGA package (8mm x 8mm) for maximum reduction in board space, and a JEDEC-standard 54-pin TSOP package for easy replacement of legacy components. All three device options can be supported by one chip.
