CompUSA is shaping the company as a consumer electronics chain store as the computer sales stall. The company hopes customers will think of more than computers when they hear the CompUSA Inc. name.
"It's part of the company's transformation away from being a seller of computers and into being the ultimate integrator for your lifestyle," said Mr. Mondry, who was just named chief executive officer at Dallas-based CompUSA.
Many manufacturers and retail chains that had traditionally focused on PCs have been broadening their offerings in the last several years, as PC sales have stagnated and prices have deflated, hurting margins.
