Atmel Corp. today announced that it has collected more than $37.8 million from Silicon Storage Technologies Inc. (SST), regarding a May 7, 2002 judgment.

The award constituted the $36.5 million jury award, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, granted in judgment by the District Court for the Northern District of California.

That amount was raised from the original $20 million award, given in April 2002.

In September, SST appealed the judgment, which found that it willfully infringed two of Atmel's charge pump patents, but was denied by a federal judge.
