San Diego-based Patriot Scientific Corp. today said it had filed additional lawsuits against Fujitsu, Toshiba and NEC in U.S. district court, having already taken Sony to court.
It is suing the companies over its U.S. patent involving variable speed system clocks in microprocessors. The company first announced back in 2001 that it planned to start seeking licensing opportunities and exploit its patents on variable speed clock technology. The company suggested at that time that a number of existing products utilized technology that fell within Patriot Scientific's patent rights.
"These actions coupled with the filing of a lawsuit against Sony on December 22, 2003 represent the beginning of a significantly expanding effort to protect the rights of the (Patriot Scientific) microprocessor patent portfolio," Jeff Wallin, president and CEO, said in a statement. The company seeks damages in excess of several hundred million dollars.
