Sony Computer Entertainment Inc (SCE) has postponed the release of the PlayStation 2 in China, which was slated for Saturday, the company said on Dec 22.
"It is taking time for the Sony group to make various preparations," SCE said regarding the reason for the postponement, without revealing any details.
The expected date of release of the video game console -- which is to be sold by Sony (China) Ltd, a Chinese unit of Sony Corp -- is still undecided, and may be delayed until 2004, according to SCE.
SCE had announced last autumn that it would release the PlayStation 2 in China in 2003. It said at the end of last month that "preparations, including approval, have been completed," and also announced the release date.
