Nokia said Thursday that fourth-quarter sales and profits would top its previous guidance, indicating a rebounding market. The world largest phone makers said demand for its phones and networks is robust. |
The company expects pro-forma earnings per share of 0.28-0.29, up from a previous estimate of 0.21 to 0.23 and 0.26 a year ago.
"The strong seasonal development in both Nokia Mobile Phones and Nokia Networks exceeded even our own expectations," Nokia Chief Executive Jorma Ollila said in a statement.
Nokia said sales at its key mobile phone unit rose four percent in the quarter to some 7 billion ($8.81 billion), with its operating margin a heady 24-25 percent.
Sales at its networks unit were around 300 million higher than forecast at 1.7 billion due to a spike in operator investments.
