In a move to expand its printing and imaging market, Dell has signed technology-sharing deals with Kodak, Samsung and Fuji Xerox. The announcements were made at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Dell said existing OEM pact with Lexmark remains in tact.
The new agreements are set to heat up competition between Dell and Hewlett-Packard. Earlier this year, HP Chairman and CEO Carly Fiorina told financial analysts she saw signs the Dell-Lexmark relationship was weakening. Fiorina suggested Dell and Lexmark would part ways.
While Dell said his company's relationship with Lexmark would continue, the company is also intent on expanding its offerings through partnerships with Lexmark rivals.
