Several major thin film transistor-liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panel makers in Taiwan are expected to recruit over 8,000 new employees this year for their aggressive production expansion projects.
AU Optronics Corp. (AUO) is scheduled to recruit about 3,000 new people, including about 1,500 engineers and about 1,500 non-engineer employees, in the new year to fill the employee vacancy at the company's second fifth-generation plant and a new sixth-generation panel facility. AUO currently maintains a R&D team with a total staff of 800, and the company's goal is to have a 1,500 professional R&D team in the near future.
Chi Mei Optoelectronics Corp. (CMO) reentry said that it would hold a recruitment activity in southern Taiwan to attract more talented professionals to work for CMO's panel plants at the Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP). The company is scheduled to recruit an additional 2,000 people for both the front- and rear-section production at its first panel plant in STSP.
Chunghwa Picture Tubes, Ltd. (CPT) will hold an elite recruitment fair in northern Taiwan's Longtan on January 10 to recruit new employees. The company is scheduled to recruit 2,000 new employees this year, including about 1,000 engineers for R&D, engineering, and equipment; and another 1,000 technicians for production, repair and maintenance, and plant operation etc. According to CPT, the 2,000 new employees to be recruited this year will not include production line workers.
All other panel makers in Taiwan also have recruitment projects for their new-generation panel businesses, including HannStar Display Corp., Quanta Display Inc. and newcomer Innolux Display Corp. HannStar's new fifth-generation panel plant is scheduled to begin mass production in the middle of this year.
