Samsung Electronics said on Jan 13 that it saw sales and operating profits hit record highs during the fourth quarter of 2003.
Sales during the cited period stood at 12.8 trillion won, on operating profits of 2.63 trillion won and net profits of 1.86 trillion won, Samsung said.
By sector, sales in its semiconductor business stood at 5.86 trillion won, the telecom equipment business recorded 3.94 trillion won, and its digital media and consumer home appliances divisions saw sales worth 2.13 trillion won and 860 billion won, respectively.
"We believe that continuous efforts to upgrade competitiveness and brand worth in our DRAM, wireless handset, TFT-LCD, flash memory chip and digital TV businesses attributed to the surprisingly strong results," a Samsung official said.
