International Rectifier Corp., Hitachi Ltd. and Renesas Technology Corp. said they have settled all outstanding lawsuits involving patent infringement allegations among the three companies.
The companies said they also entered into a patent cross-licensing agreement, but did not disclose the terms of the settlement.
The lawsuits date back to January 2002 when International Rectifier sued Hitachi in a Los Angeles court for allegedly violating several of its U.S. patents. International Rectifier won a preliminary injunction that prohibited Hitachi from manufacturing or importing into the United States certain Hitachi planar power MOSFETs.
International Rectifier added Renesas to the lawsuits in 2003 after Hitachi and Mitsubishi Electric Corp. created the Japanese semiconductor company by pooling their respective chip operations.
