Sony and Toshiba have said they are to collaborate in the development of 45nm semiconductor process and design technologies.
The two companies will extend their ongoing development of 65nm process technologies to the next level with first results expected in 2005.
There is a budget of $190 million budget to be shared by both companies. Approximately 150 engineers from the two companies are expected to work on the project at centers in Japan.
The two companies started working together on 65nm semiconductor process technology development in May 2001
