After 20 years at the helm, Michael Dell will transfer the title of company CEO to Kevin Rollins, currently president and COO.
Dell's board of directors today appointed Rollins CEO effective at the company's July 16 annual meeting of shareholders. Rollins has been with the company since April 1996 and will become president and CEO. He will also be nominated for election to the Dell board at the annual meeting.
No reason was given for Dell's departure from the seat, which comes after the PC giant recorded record product shipments, revenue, operating and net income, and earnings per share for the fiscal year ended Jan. 30.
The company founder will, however, keep his position as chairman of the board.
