Following up on alignment initiatives announced last year, Motorola is shutting its semiconductor design units in Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan, as the company consolidates in the Asia/Pacific.
About 50 jobs will be lost in the transition, Motorola said.
"No U.S. jobs are impacted here, and there is no impact on SPS product offerings," a Motorola spokeswoman said.
The company claimed the move is purely about lowering costs and maximizing design resources.
