Government must spend on basic research and development and improve its education system if it hopes to remain competitive in information technology, Intel CEO Craig Barrett said in a conference.
Barrett said companies in Asia especially China and India will gain advantage in the marketplace if the government do little to improve our education systems.
Barrett also warned that antiterrorist measures and visa policies are leading to the drop of foreign students studying in the United States.
"Either you decide you want to compete or you become protectionist," Barrett said. "We somehow think that we have a God-given right to be the world's No. 1 economy forever."
