Wuxi is about 80 miles west of Shanghai in Jiangsu province and is the site of two wafer fabs owned by Memsic Inc.
"Hynix wants to build a DRAM plant, eight-inch. This has been in the works for quite a long time, almost a year now," the Wuxi official, who is familiar with the talks, was quoted as saying. "The investment could be worth $500 million to $800 million," the report also quoted the official as saying.
Hynix has put their focus on selling to China market after being hit with a tariffs on its DRAM exports to the US or European union.
