Future Horizons said chip recovery to last

Tuesday, March 30, 2004

Future Horizons downplays the industry-wide forecasts of a short-lived recovery and chip market downturn in 2005, the market researcher said in a report.

In its March newsletter, the company acknowledged that the short-lived recovery is more likely, but not downturn. It predicts that an undersupply of semiconductors would last well into 2005, with an oversupply not arriving until the second half of 2005 or the first half of 2006.

Future Horizons forecasts that the recovering global economy, new end-user products and returning corporate investment in PC and telecommunications, is driving growth fueling IC demand.
