Complaint filed against Mosys for infringement

Monday, April 5, 2004 Monolithic System Technology Inc. (Mosys), the subject of a $432 million cash acquisition by Synopsys Inc., said Friday (April 2) that a complaint has been filed against it by UniRAM Technology Inc. of Santa Clara, Calif., alleging trade secret misappropriation and patent infringement.

Mosys, a supplier of so-called 1T-SRAM technology under license, was notified on April 1, 2004, of UniRAM's complaint, which asserts that UniRAM provided trade secret information to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (TSMC) sometime between 1996 and 1997 and that Mosys improperly obtained unspecified trade secrets of UniRAM from TSMC in an unknown manner. Neither TSMC, nor anyone other than Mosys, has been named as a defendant in the lawsuit, Mosys said.

MoSys said that it believes UniRAM's complaint is without merit and that it intends to defend itself vigorously.
