Steve Appleton, chief executive officer of U.S. DRAM maker Micron Technology Inc., has said that his company should be profitable for the rest of 2004 if market conditions remain stable.
Micron has remained in loss despite improving market conditions during 2003 but the chief executive said: "We think that the outlook for 2004 is pretty strong," according to the report.
"We believe from this point, moving forward, the company will be profitable under current market conditions. Of course, we can't predict what those will be late in the year or 2005, but we believe it will remain fairly stable and strong for us, given the dynamics of what is happening -- the shortage of silicon (chips) around the world," said Appleton.
