Korea's Samsung Electronics Co Ltd expects sales of its liquid crystal display (LCD) products to exceed 10 trillion won (US$8.74 billion) this year, according to company executives.
"Samsung Electronics is leading the global market in LCD panels for notebook PCs and computer monitors, and is now aiming to top the world market for LCDs used in mobile appliances to become the world's No. 1 digital display maker," said Lee Sang-wan, president of the company's LCD division.
He made the remarks at the Electronic Display Exhibition 2004, which closed in Tokyo last week.
