Lossing 2.2 million subscribers from its dial-up Internet service last year, American Online is expected to lose another 800,000 in the first quarter, by some estimates.
To offset the anticipated losses, the company is expected to take deeper cost cutting of $400 million to $500 million this year to help preserve profit margins and earnings for the year.
