Total 2004 production value for Taiwan's optoelectronic industry will increase 33.4% on year, to NT$1.038 trillion (US$31.46 billion), according to a recent forecast by the Industrial Economics & Knowledge Center (IEK).
IEK is a unit of the government-sponsored Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI). All optoelectronic product categories are expect to increase in production value, except for optical output devices, which should suffer a slight decrease in production value this year due to an expected slowdown in demand for office machines, including inkjet printers, MFPs and Fax machines, IEK indicated.
