Intel rolled out a new Pentium M processor for notebooks that boosts performance while keeping battery life roughly the same as previous versions.
Twenty-eight notebook computer systems based on the new chip were released on Monday, with around 50 systems to be ready for sale by mid-July, said Intel.
The new chip opens up advanced applications to notebook computer users like full-screen high-definition video playing and mobile videoconferencing, while keeping the PC relatively light and equally good battery life as its predecessors, Intel said.
