Wednesday, June 2, 2004 Alliance Semiconductor Corp. will invest an additional $50 million over the next five years in its two development centers in India.

Alliance Santa Clara, Calif.) has so far invested $20 million in its centers here and in Hyderabad. They employ 150 engineers. The Bangalore center was started in 1998 and currently has about 100 engineers. The Hyderabad center was part of an an acquisition two years ago.

The new plans also include doubling employment at the two centers over the next three years, said N. Damodar Reddy, Alliannce's chairman, chief executive and president. He said the new investments and increased hiring are meant to further the company's market expansion.

Reddy said the team at Alliance India has exceeded the goals set for the India center and has contributed to Alliance India's competency in mixed-signal design and development.

"The new investments will enable us accelerate product development efforts," said Jayanta Lahiri, general manager of Alliance's India operations. Alliance said it views India as a major growth opportunity in terms of both market share and technology.
