Taiwan motherboard makers are skeptical that sales of motherboards that use the new Intel 915 and 925 are going to increase in the second quarter. Even though, all of their featured motherboards are now embedded with the new chip as showcased at Computex this year.
They feel that the demand for these new products will not improve, as compared to when Intel launched the 865 and 845 chipsets in the past. The scrutiny is due to the fact that there are a substantial amount of changes as a result of the new interface and there is a huge possibility that this would keep end-users from upgrading.
On the other hand, the OEM clients are more receptive to the new standard, basically because production costs are incurred when the company does the OEM manufacturing for international brands.
