CMC Magnetics, Ritek, and Prodisc Technology are three of the top optical disc manufacturers in Taiwan. At Computex this year, all three are featuring the 8.5GB single-sided double layer (DL) DVD+R/-R discs at the exhibit.
It is their goal to be able to secure orders during the 5-day show in Taipei. They are also dispatching samples to different clients for certification in time for production, which is set to begin in the middle of June. The disc manufacturers are hoping to use Computex as a reference for the DVD+R/-R and CD-R prices, just as they were able to use CeBIT to gauge the price quotation for discs earlier in the year.
In related news, another disc maker, Infodisc Technology, recently announced that they are selling their South Korean Subsidiary and is being eyed by the Korean company New Star LLC for US$30 million.
