In the recent concluded Computex Taipei exhibition, the DRAM price went up after many memory companies anticipate the demand of memory chips will gradually increase in next few months. Before the show, module makers have placed more DRAM orders as they expect a growth in sales resulting from the international show.
Previously, the DRAM prices have dropped due to the weakening market demand for clones and the plans of module makers to reduce their inventories. According to the DRAM eXchange, the price of a 256MB DDR has risen to US$4.84 within this week. The company agreed that it's not usual for the price to rebound in the last week of the month. It expects the price to continue rising and top US$5.5 in the following weeks.
The DRAM prices have gone down below US$4.5 from the middle of May before regaining last week. The price rise, however, reflects optimism among module makers and distributors. An analyst said that the spot prices will fluctuate in a narrow range between US$4.50 and US$5 in next few days or weeks.
