Elpida Memory and Micron Japan, the Japanese subsidiary of US DRAM maker Micron Technology Inc., have filed a petition calling for duties fee to be added on DRAMs manufactured by Hynix Semiconductor in Korea and imported into Japan, Elpida said Wednesday.
The grounds of the petition are the allegation that Hynix DRAM manufacturing in Korea has been illegally subsidized through the transformation of debt into equity by government-backed creditors, Elpida said.
The petition covers all types of DRAMs and modules fabricated in Korea by Hynix as well as any other company that purchases Hynix DRAMs and then brings the DRAMs into Japan.
