United Microelectronics said Wednesday that its sales hit NT$10.32 billion (about US$310 million) in June, up 6.9 percent from the previous month and up 46.8 percent from June 2003.
UMC's May sales were NT$9.65 billion (about US$288 million) up 31.2 percent from the same month a year before, demonstrating a growth in foundry business. In the first half of 2004 UMC's sales were NT$54.50 billion (about US$1.63 billion) up 37.6 percent from the first half of 2003.
The trend through the first half of 2004 has been for foundry sales growth to be ahead of the general market, and for the Asia-Pacific region
