Motorola Inc. announced Tuesday (July 20) that Tom Lynch, president of the company's Personal Communications Sector, would leave the company for personal reasons at the end of the summer.
The announcement was made on the same day that Motorola announced a net loss of $203 million on sales revenues of $8.7 billion in its financial results for the second quarter of 2004.
PCS is Motorola's largest business and makes the company's cell phones.
"This was an extremely difficult decision," said Lynch. "After much deliberation, I determined that the timing was right for the organization and for me personally. I have spent nearly four years away from my family and plan to relocate back to the east coast. Motorola has never been stronger, so this is an excellent time to begin a smooth leadership transition."
