More than half of US online users have access to a broadband connection, surpassing dial-up services for the first time, according to report released by Nielsen Netratings.
While the overall Internet access accounts being stagnant, broadband connections are still adding users rapidly, according to the market research firm. The report said 38 percent of US internet users used a type of broadband connection in 2003. In July 2004, that figured had jumped to 51 percent or roughly 63 million users.
Overall growth for broadband connections rose 47 percent year-over-year, while narrowband dropped 13 percent annually, according to the report.
