Continuing to push the limits of notebook PCs, Intel Corp. Wednesday (Sept. 8) announced some of the first details of its 65-nm processor for mobile applications.
The so-called Napa platform is a follow-on architecture to its current mobile solution, dubbed Sonoma. Sonoma is a platform, based on the company's 90-nm processor. Sonoma also includes a new Pentium M processor with a 533-MHz front-side bus and a chipset code-named Alviso, along with the newly released Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG network connection.
Meanwhile, Napa will feature Intel's 65-nm processor for mobiles, dubbed Yonah. The processor will be a dual-core architecture, said Anand Chandrasekher, vice president and general manager of the Mobile Platforms Group, during a keynote address.
The Napa platform also includes Golan, the company's next-generation Wi-Fi solution. The platform will also include a new integrated graphics chipset codenamed Calistoga.
