Thursday, September 9, 2004

Intel Corp. today said has entered into an agreement to work with Acacia Research Corp.¡¯s CombiMatrix group on possibly using a platform technology to produce customizable active biochips, developed by the research house.

Biochips are semiconductor-based tools used in identifying and determining the roles of genes, gene mutations and proteins. CombiMatrix sees a wide range of applications for its technology such as DNA synthesis/diagnostics, siRNA synthesis, drug discovery, and immunochemical detection.

Newport Beach, Calif.-based CombiMatrix supplies CustomArray DNA arrays to researchers and its Express Track drug discovery program target common viral diseases with its technology that uses siRNA compounds.

Terms and conditions of the agreement were not released.
