Research firms reduce IC sale forecast

Thursday, September 23, 2004 Princeton Tech Research cut its forecase for the chip sector amid the ongoing inventory correction in the market.

The research company reduced its revenue forecast for the IC industry two percentage points to 24 percent in 2004. The firm also cut its forecast from 9 percent to flat for 2005. In 2006, the market is projected to rebound and grow by 10 percent, it said.

"The reduction in our '04 and '05 forecasts is due to the inventory correction now underway in the industry, and the negative impact we expect the new 300-mm fabs to have on pricing in DRAM and NAND flash," said the firm in a report.
