Acer aims to ship 3.5-4.0 million notebooks this year and six million in 2005, an executive of the PC vendor said in Suzhou, China, recently.
With the arrival of the traditional peak-season, Acer is expecting to ramp up its notebook shipments to 500,000 units per month in the fourth quarter, up from 400,000 units currently, the Chinese-language Economic Daily News quoted Jim Weng, president of the IT products business group at Acer, as saying.
According to Weng, Acer shipped a total of 2.2 million notebooks in the first eight months of this year.
The Taiwan-based PC vendor also aims to ship four million desktops in 2005, up from this year’s projection of three million units, Weng said.
