Advanced Micro Devices is expected to again lower the prices of its socket 754 AMD Athlon 64 processor lineup in mid-October, while also introducing new parts for its socket 939 processor family, according to sources at Taiwan motherboard makers.
Along with the price cuts, AMD will also launch four socket-939 64-bit processors, the AMD Athlon 64 3000+, 3200+, 3500+ and 4000+, the sources noted. The AMD Athlon 64 3800+ is currently the only member of AMD’s 64-bit processor line-up that is available for socket 939.
AMD Taiwan declined to comment on the report.
