Microsoft is set to launch a new version of its Windows XP Media Center, a personal computer designed for viewing movies, listening to music and scrolling through digital pictures.
Equipped with software designed for the living room, Media Center is one of Microsoft's biggest bets to breath new life into personal computer sales.
Microsoft observers say the Redmond, Washington-based company has been able to weed out the bugs and make enough adjustments in this third version software to make its products appeal to a wider audience.
So far, video technology enthusiasts appear to have been the main buyers of Media Center. Most expects the newer system to be priced between $1,000 and $2,000.
