Renesas Technology Corp. has filed a motion for a preliminary injunction against Nanya Technology to stop it from importation, marketing and sales of semiconductor memory products at its Japan subsidiary, according to a news source. The lawsuit, fied in Tokya District Court, claims that Nanya has infringed Renesas's semiconductor package related patent.
Renesas previously filed lawsuits against Nanya in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, on Dec. 17, 2003, and in the Tokyo District Court, on February 26, based on the infringement of semiconductor memory related patents.
"After those lawsuits were filed, Nanya Japan continued to willfully import into Japan and to market and sell in Japan memory products covered by Renesas' patents without a license from Renesas Technology," according to the Japanese company. "Thus, Renesas Technology filed for the preliminary injunction to obtain legal relief sooner."
