Intel is said to plan to cut prices for its 915 chipsets family on December 26 in a move to boost sales in this particular line, according to sources at Taiwan motherboard makers.
Intel¡¦s 865- and 845-series core-logic chipsets will not affected by the planned price cut since demand for these two parts remains strong, the sources noted.
The price cuts of US$4 to US$2 will narrow the price differential between the 915G and the 865G integrated graphics chipsets, indicating Intel¡¦s efforts to promote PCIe-supporting chipsets, said the sources.
