Powertech Technology is planning to double its DDR2 testing capacity each quarter over the next two quarters to meet demand from Hynix Semiconductor and Elpida Memory, according to a new source in Taiwan.
Sources said the company will increase its capacity from two million chips per month currently to five million in the first quarter of next year, and 10 million in the second quarter of 2005.
Meantime, Powertech is expanding its NAND-flash capacity as well to meet demand from Toshiba, sources said.
