Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd. (MEI) today said it has signed a licensing agreement with Tessera Technologies Inc. for chip-scale and multi-chip packages (CSPs and MCPs) for use in compact consumer device applications.
Best known for its Panasonic brand, MEI uses Tessera¡¯s CSP technology in many of its semiconductor devices, including ASSPs, ASICs and various logic devices for consumer devices such as digital video cameras and cellular phone handsets.
The license agreement covers a broad range of CSP and MCP types including integrated circuit devices packaged in MicroBGA face-down, MicroBGA-F face-up, fold-over, stacked and system-in-package formats, and utilizing many types of tape and laminate substrates.
Financial details were not released.
