The U.S. Air Force is moving ahead with deployment plans for a huge network-centric warfare program by authorizing lead contractor Northrop Grumman Corp. to provide technical support for hardware and software improvements.
Northrop Grumman's Information Technology unit (Herndon, Va.) said Monday (Nov. 29) that the Air Force issued the first "task order" under its Network Centric Solutions program for hardware and software support, including software updates and upgrades.
The company said it would provide maintenance services for Cisco Systems' network hardware and software.
The task order is valued at about $1 million over five years.
Northrop Grumman leads a contracting team for the net-centric warfare program that includes ten large partners and 24 small business partners.
