Wednesday, December 15, 2004

Intel is said to plan to cut the 915 chipsets on April 3, 2005 following a first price-cut scheduled for the end of this month, according to sources at Taiwan motherboard makers.

After the December price-cut, the price gap between the 915G and 865G integrated graphics chipsets will be reduced from US$4 to US$2. And the gap is expected to shrink to US$1 after the April 05 price-cut.

However, the difference between Intel¡¦s 915P and 865PE discrete chipsets will remain the same at US$7, the sources added, the sources said.

Intel will begin delivery of its next-generation Lakeport chipset, the 945P/G and the Glenwood chipset, the 955X, in the second quarter of 2005, according to sources in the Taiwan motherboard industry.
